Local Holiday Events

Seattle Christmas Market:

From November 24-December 24 Seattle will be sharing the holiday spirit with their very own Christmas Market open daily. This winter, Seattle Center will become a German-inspired holiday village. With 60+ vendors throughout the market, visitors can enjoy sweet and savory treats, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and a 50-foot walk-through Christmas tree at the end. Guests can also take complimentary rides on the Christmas Carousel, walk through the Christmas light installation, and listen to live holiday music performed on their outdoor stage. This taste of holiday magic is inspired by the Christmas markets located in Germany. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $12 for youth ages 7-17. For children 6 and younger, ticket prices are free.

Some of the popular activities for children at the market include writing letters to Santa, scavenger hunts, carousel rides, and storytelling stations. The market’s founder, Malte Kluetz told King 5 News that he wanted the market to be a cultural experience where visitors can “feel a little bit of Germany while you’re in downtown Seattle.”

It is safe to say that Seattle is sharing the holiday cheer this year. Be sure to stop by the Christmas Market to get a taste of a German Christmas before it wraps up for the season.

Argosy Cruise Festival:

The 70-year Argosy Cruise Festival tradition continues this year with its annual holiday celebration. There are three ways to experience the Argosy holiday magic. The fan favorite is joining aboard the Christmas Ship. Those who join the ship will experience an hour-and-a-half cruise around local Seattle waterfronts. Along with that, those aboard can enjoy a live choir, the reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, and a full-service bar. The second way to enjoy the cruise festival is to join the 21+ follow the boat. The experience is similar to the Christmas Ship, with an hour-and-a-half cruise, a live choir, and a full-service bar as well. This option is more suited for a date night or parents’ night out. Lastly, you can experience the festival from your local store where tree lighting and bonfires are held. Check out Argosy Cruise’s website to find a full schedule of the ship’s on-shore locations.

Woodland Park Zoo Lights:

WildLanterns is a festive experience hosted by the Woodland Park Zoo. Throughout December and even into January, viewers will be met with an “ immersive, interactive, larger-than-life experience.” The walk-through lantern exhibit contains huge animal and plant lanterns. The experience has various zones including, an All About Bugs, Garden Delights, African Animals, Asian Safari, and Ocean Animal Odyssey each equipped with its beautiful light display. WildLantern is a perfect family outing and makes for a unique holiday experience. Tickets start at $29.95 for adults and $25.95 for children.
