The skill of softball that the Hazen girls have is hard to match. Learning how to pitch, swing, catch a ground, or fly ball are all things that our girls have worked hard to perfect. With a long season, handling sometimes up to 4 games a week, our girls have pushed themselves to the brink so that they could be their best selves. With the trials they faced, they have continued to put their best foot forward and swing into the next win.

Kenzie Galliano (11) is a fastpitch player for Hazen. She fell in love with the sport at a young age and joined so that she could make connections with other players and find a fun activity at a young age. She mainly plays at third base or middle infield. For her, the Hazen 2024 season has been going great. She loves her teammates and all of the memories she has been able to make with them. Kenzie finds her skill in her hitting abilities and has loved being able to see the progress that she has been able to make over the past couple of seasons with Hazen. She wants to play her senior season and has the dream and determination to play college-level softball.
Vanora Kirkpatrick (10) is a varsity softball player, who normally plays right or left field, and has ten years of experience when it comes to the game. She started when she was about six years old, playing for the T-Ball Bumble Bees. When it comes to needing someone to have your back, Vanora is your girl. So far for her, the season has been enjoyable. Vanora loves the positive and encouraging environment of her team and enjoys how her teammates have made an environment that she genuinely wants to be a part of. She stays with softball because she has loved the sport for years, and it feels natural. Plus she has extremely strong bonds with her teammates. Vanora hopes to play next year for Hazen, and can’t wait for another amazing season with her team.
Esa Deleza (10) is a varsity softball player and has learned the game from an early age. She started in around 2nd grade because she had friends in the sport, but had previously played T-Ball when she was younger. She finds herself starring in the outfield and has discovered her skill in hitting and running bases. The Hazen 2024 season has been going extremely well, not just with the team track record, but with her teammates. They all have a special place in her heart, and she can’t wait to take on the postseason with them. Esa loves softball for the community, and especially how her teammates only build each other up. She wants to continue with softball for as long as she can and is ready for the seasons to come.
Post Season
The Hazen Girls’ Softball team has made it to the postseason! With eleven wins and seven losses, they are already in the double-elimination round. Meaning that if they lose two games, they’re out! So far they have played two games, one against Mercer Island with a win of 10-1, and the other against Lake Washington with an unfortunate loss of 8-3. As these girls continue to make their way to districts, they’ll be facing harder teams, hitting more challenging pitches, and catching more forceful balls. With this, our highlanders need to make sure we are coming and supporting our incredible team. As these girls make history, we need to be watching and cheering them on.
