It has been trending all over social media and has even collaborated with singer Charli XCX and her new album Brat. So what is this hit game? This game is Dress To Impress.
Dress To Impress came out on November 11, 2023, and is a game on the online gaming platform Roblox, which can be played on PC, console, and mobile. You use your creativity to make the best outfit for the current category given in a certain time frame. After the timer ends, players show their outfit on the runway and other players vote the outfit out of 5 stars. The more stars you collect the higher rank you become where the highest rank is Top Model.
Why is Dress To Impress so popular?
This multiplayer game is a fun way to have fun with friends by exploring different fashion tastes and styles of clothes. You can duo and soon trio with your friends meaning you can collaborate on making the perfect correlating outfits. It’s also a fun way to make your favorite cartoon or movie characters to certain themes like Bring It On to “Cheerleader” and Monster High characters to “Ghosts vs Ghouls.”
Another reason it started to get more spotlight is the collaboration with Charli XCX and her new album Brat. The collaboration was added to the game on August 17 where they included her iconic Brat T-shirt, stage outfits, Brat themed patterns, an apple, and some poses which includes the iconic Apple dance created by Kelley Heyer. Even though you can no longer find these items in the main lobby you can access them on the side left button in the “Codes” section. Note: These items may not be accessible to new players.

Dress to Impress is very similar to an old game on Roblox named Fashion Famous, formally known as a Fashion Frenzy. This game came out in December 2016, a time when many students were kids around the ages of 8-10 years old and probably playing on an ipad or mom and dad’s phone. We as kids probably found out about Roblox and Fashion Frenzy by watching our favorite YouTuber. Looking up to them, we decide to download the game with our parent’s permission and we end up becoming addicted to it.
Dress to Impress is just Fashion Famous but grown up to our age. Older players that have been on Roblox since a young age feel the excitement and nostalgia while playing Dress to Impress because it reminds us older generation of games we used to play in our childhood.
What is VIP? Why do I have to pay money?
Dress to Impress and Roblox are ultimately free to download and play until you get to the VIP section. Dress to Impress VIP is a game pass to get into the restricted VIP area which has exclusive outfits and accessories. The pass cost 799 Robux which is the equivalent to $10 USD. There are also other game passes like the “Custom Makeup” pass which allows you to pick and choose which eyes and lips and it costs 349 Robux which is around $4 to $5 USD.
Why do people buy VIPs? Most people believe that the more access to clothes gives you an advantage but it’s really how you layer and design your outfit. By adding layers to your outfit this could help perceive your clothing item as something else like layering more than two skirts to get more of a ruffle effect.
The game continues to grow with over one billion visits as of June 21, 2024. Since the spooky season of Halloween is coming up so will new clothing pieces you can use to spook up your outfits. You can also receive monthly exclusive items by going to the side and pressing the codes button, these codes expire by the end of each month so claim them while you can. Once the codes are claimed they will stay in your inventory permanently.
