Girl’s Varsity
Many girls said their family inspires them, Mia McCarthy says she was “inspired by my parents,” and Sadie Hollander says she was “inspired by my older cousin.” and will be following in her footsteps and pursuing college basketball in the future. They all agree that basketball is a very enjoyable sport, and they like that it keeps them in shape.
Boy’s Varsity
Basketball has an influence on people whether they commit completely or not, Malik and Abdul Gilbert say, “We don’t see a future in basketball” but, “love to compete and have fun.” Malakai Cortez, on the other end, says he appreciates the “working hard to get better and putting time and effort” part of basketball, being motivated by Kobe Bryant, and “I hope to play college basketball eventually and go D1”
Boy’s JV
Having a strong relationship with your teammates is an amazing way to give you a better experience in any sport you play. Casen Anderson (10) enforces this idea by saying, “Me and my team have good connections all the time.” All of our JV players seem to have a close relationship with each other. “People who inspired me to play basketball were Suhail and Lebron James, and I think Suhail has a future in basketball.” Taneth Van (10) and Casen Anderson (10) say “Watching people like Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving” inspires him, but Suhail Abdulmumin says, “ME,” implying only he can inspire himself and he plays basketball “because it is fun.”
Boy’s C-Team
Whether you look up to your favorite NBA player or a teammate you see playing basketball, these are some of the people who inspire our C-team players. “I’ve been playing basketball for 3 years although I quit and restarted, Suhail inspired me to start playing basketball again” John Costa (10).
