THEM Video Interview

THEM+Video+Interview

The West Seattle-based band THEM is a local, all-girl indie pop band based in the West Seattle area. The group consists of four members: Thompson, Hudson, Ellie, and Maia creating the acronym THEM. The girls, ages 17-20, started in the basement of a music school but quickly worked their way up to playing shows at local venues, opening for Blu DeTiger, and being featured on KEXP. Each THEM band members are multi-instrumentalists, and collectively take on the 90s-Y2K aesthetic with a colorful brand and a throwback wardrobe. Their most popular song on Spotify right now is Sunset Blvd. and has 122,684 streams. Sunset Blvd. is very representative of their other music as it features storytelling lyrics in a hypothetical situation with a romantic partner. We see similar themes in their debut song BAD 4 U where they sing “the way he moves the way he talks (girl you’re just confused) I wanna be, be his (but you know he’s bad for you)” and in their song she says “he was from yours from the start I don’t want his heart but she took it anyway.” With similar teen girl angst as Olivia Rodrigo and Beach Bunny, and a colorful, throwback style this band is definitely one to check out!
